After the long regular season, each of the basketball teams had more to come in the post-season. Both teams ended up making it all the way to regional semifinals. With wins over Broad Run in the district semifinals, they made it to finals, where they lost to Tuscaroa.

“Our regular season was up and down, we won more games compared to last year but we also lost some games we definitely should have won,” sophomore Sammy Boyers said.
The girls basketball team ended up being 12-11 overall in the regular season, with many of their losses being close games and their wins putting them well above the other teams.
“I think it was work ethic,” Boyers said, of their season’s success.
“We were down basically the whole game and in the 4th quarter we went on a very long run with Broad Run not being able to score and I think that was definitely what changed that game for us,” Boyers said of the semifinals.
“I was super excited because I had never experienced winning a playoff game,” Boyers said.
Even though the girls basketball team didn’t end up winning the regional semifinals, the team still came so far.
The boys basketball team had a good season overall with a regular season record of 15-9. All of their games were very close. They had a much better overall record from last year’s 2-21 record.
“We worked hard as a team, we worked hard every day,” senior Christian Dema-Narh said. “We had our mind on something and we went to go get it.”
At the regional semi finals the team couldn’t pull out the win. For the seniors, the loss meant the end of their season.
“I’m gonna miss those guys, it was pretty emotional out there during the last game,” Dema-Narch said.
Looking at next year’s team, Dema-narch says, “I wish them the best of luck, I hope they go farther than we did this year.”
